LokaalRaadio @Radio Art Zone Sept 11 – 12

LokaaRaadio esitleb esmaettekandele tulevat 22-tunnist raadioteost ‘Unenägija vajub unne’, mis osaleb Euroopa Kultuuripealinn Esch2022 (Esch-sur-Alzette (Luksemburg) Radio Art Zone’i programmis. Raadioprogrammi kuraatoriteks on Knut Aufermann ja Sarah Washington, ning teost kantakse üle Radio Art Zone’i veebiraadios pühapäeval 11. septembril, alates kella 15:00 kuni esmaspäeval kella 13.00ni Eesti aja järgi. Edastame teose ka oma veebistriimi.

Radiofooniline teos on loodud generatiivsel meetodil modulaarsüntesaatori poolt, mis on LokaaRaadio loominguliseks koostööpartneriks. Sünteesides meditatiivset 22-tunnist helimassiivi toidab LokaalRaadio Unenägijaks kutsutud süsteemi heli ja tekstikatketega, mis sarnanevad magaja unenägudesse tungivate reaalsusekildudega, mis tema und mõjutavad. Mingis mõttes on tegemist seega taganttõugatud või stimuleeritud unenägemisega, mis samas ei allu täielikult kummagi osapoole täielikule kontrollile. Me jälgime ja kuulame Unenägija poolt genereeritud und, kuid samas oleme ka ise selle poolt mõjutatud ning vajume protsessi erinevates etappides unenäolistesse seisunditesse.

LokaalRaadio heliteose kontseptsioon põhineb Austraalia koala unenäotsüklil, kes magab ööpäevas kuni 22 tundi, et selle jooksul vabaneda söögiks tarvitavates eukalüptipuu lehtedes sisalduvatest toksiinidest. Lisaks sellele püüame leida sidet enda jaoks kauge, kuid paeluva põlisrahvaste kontseptsiooni – Unenägemisega, millest uskumuste järgi on loodud kogu olemasolev maailm. Unenägijast – tehnoloogilisest generatiivsüsteemist, saab peale esimest teost loodetavasti LokaalRaadio pikaajaline loominguline partner.

LokaalRaadio will premiere it’s 22-hour radio piece The Dreamer Falls Asleep at Radio Art Zone program curated by Knut Aufermann and Sarah Washington for the Esch2022 radio programme on September 11 from 14:00 CEST until 12:00 noon on Monday 12 September. We will also relay the stream here on our website.

We are presenting a radio piece that sets up a generative sound machine, based on a modular synthesizer, which acts as a counterpart to our creativity, synthesizing a long meditative dreamscape with a duration of 22 hours. In our vision, the modular system, which is called The Dreamer is stimulated by the team with snippets of text and sound, not unlike a person is stimulated by reality which he or she synthesizes into a dreamscape while asleep. So in a way this is assisted dreaming, but one that is not entirely controllable by neither party. We monitor the sleep and in turn are stimulated by the sonic output of The Dreamer to fall into and out of dreamlike states ourselves during the generative phase of the piece.

We based the concept here on the sleep cycle of the Australian Koala, which takes up to 22 hours in a day to sleep and digest the toxins within the leaves of the Eucalypt tree which make up its diet. Futhermore as we culturally travelled into the faraway (from us) territory – we are making a connection to the complex and fascinating concept of The Dreaming – a force of creation and relationship to Earth and the Universe by the Aboriginal people of Australia. The Dreamer will be a longstanding creative partner of LokaalRaadio after the inaugural radio piece.
